Faith Works

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. James 2:26 (NKJV)

I felt led recently to read the book of James again. I know God is trying to get my attention in this season in particular on the topics of faith and obedience. So, when the nudging and knocking kept getting “louder”, I knew it was time to sit and read. And it’s funny because I did not think there would be enough time to write, but He gave me a window of opportunity before the busyness and the chaos of the world opens up again.

So here I am, reading, reflecting, and writing about faith and works and the interplay of the words that faith does indeed work. I am sure like me, you may question God in certain seasons of life when things seem out of control or when you just do not understand what the heck is happening in the world. And this is where I can feel Him tapping me on my shoulder to remind me to “do the next right thing”. To believe that He sees what is happening and that His path is the only true right way.

So what does the faith walk really look like day to day? Well, maybe this will help. I read a commentary in the Color Code Study Bible,NJKV that notes “faith…works. These two should be together; there is a close relationship between the two. Faith produces works; and works make faith perfect, meaning “mature” or “complete”. Faith is active. Faith is working. And faith works- if you work it. I have an acronym I have used for faith that may help you today: F.A.I. T. H– Forgetting All Influences That Hinders belief. Be active about deleting anything that attempts to pull you away from believing in Him everyday.
